Character Bio:

Lady Arwen is of the race of elves. She is the daughter of King Elrond the Lord of Rivendell. As an elf she is immortal, destined to eventually pass on with the rest of her kind to The Undying Lands. At the age of 3000 she meets and immediately falls in love with Aragorn. A human who her father has raised from childhood. Elrond objects to their marriage since it would mean Arwen would have to surrender her immortality and eventually die as a human. Upon discovering his true origin as heir to the throne of Gondor, Argaorn knows that only by reclaiming his father's throne can he gain the acceptance of King Elrond and convince Arwen to make the terrible sacrifice of her immortality for love. When the journey to destroy the 'ring' begins, Arewn gives Aragorn (a member of the Fellowship) the magical Elven jewel the 'everstar' symbolically giving him her love and her life, which the jewel represents in Elven culture. It is only the love of Arwen that keeps Aragon going through the long struggle to destroy the 'One Ring'....

Actor Bio:

The Daughter of Steven Tyler(Aerosmith) and Bebe Buell(Former Playboy Centerfold), Liv Tyler was born on July 1st, 1977, in Portland, Maine. At 14 she and her mother left Portland, Maine for New York, where she got her start as a model for about a year and then decided to pursue acting. Liv Tyler made an auspicious film debut with the leading role in Silent Fall, directed by Bruce Beresford. After another lead in Empire Records, Tyler portrayed a waitress in a local diner in Heavy, a favorite at the 1995 Sundance Film Festival. Tyler went on to shine in Bernardo Bertolucci’s Stealing Beauty, Inventing The Abbotts, Armageddon and Robert Altman’s Cookie’s Fortune. She recently reunited with Altman to star in the critically acclaimed Dr. T and the Women with Richard Gere. Tyler’s other recent work includes Onegin co-starring Ralph Fiennes, Plunkett & Macleane and One Night at McCool’s opposite Matt Dillon.

Actor Commentary:

"Elves were the first creatures placed in Middle-earth, so they are very powerful and knowledgeable. They're also immortal. Arwen has been living for 3,000 years, an incredible amount of time. When we meet her, she's in love with Aragorn, who is a human. And she gives it up to be with him. That's something I really responded to, that idea. It's something our society lacks today."
