Character Bio:

He was born in 2978 to Denethor II and Finduilas. His father is the current steward of Gondor, the kingdom of which Aragorn is true heir. For generations the people of Gondor have taken no king, instead they have appointed a series of nobel stewards to govern the country hoping that the true heir would return. Boromir initially travels to Rivendell seeking the meaning of a recurring dream, fortelling the return of that which killed the last of Gondor's kings. He learns that this is in fact the 'One Ring' now in the possession of Frodo. Boromir, like the last king of Gondor realizes that the power of the 'ring' can be used to defend his kingdom, which is nearest to the Dark Lord Sauran's domain and has been under constant attack for generations. He is amazed when it is soon revealed that the one known as Strider is the lost heir to the thrown of Gondor. Filled with doubt about Aragorn's true origins and about what should be done with the 'Ring', Boromir never the less is compelled by honor to join the 'Fellowship' in it's journey to destroy the 'One Ring'...

Actor Bio:

He was born April 17, 1959 and raised in Sheffield, of Yorkshire, England, where he lived with his parents Brian and Rita Bean, and younger sister Lorraine. He left school at the age of 16. School was followed by a variety of odd jobs, before he discovered acting while attending Rotherham College. Sean Bean has dazzled audiences in such films as Essex Boys, Ronin, Airbourne, Anna Karenina, Goldeneye, When Saturday Comes, Scarlett, Black Beauty, Shopping, Patriot Games, Caravaggio, Lorna Doone, The Field, Stormy Monday and Windprints, among others. He will next be seen in the sci-fi thriller Equilibrium and in Gary Fleder’s Don’t Say a Word with Michael Douglas. He is currently shooting Tom and Thomas for director Esme Lammes. For television, Bean has starred in numerous BBC productions including: "The Sharp Series," "Bravo Two Zero," "Lady Chatterley," "Clarissa," "Prince," "Tell Me That You Love Me" and many more telefilms. Bean has appeared in several stage productions for the Royal Shakespeare Company including, "Romeo and Juliet," "Fair Maid of the West," "A Midsummer Night’s Dream".

Actor Commentary:

"He was a complicated and complex man. I found that really interesting to get to grips with. He's very mixed up, trying to do what's best for his people - a gentleman really, but he's in an environment where he's been on the forefront of war so he's had to be strong. But within there is a gentleman of very good quality."

"He's constantly fighting this battle, to keep down this desire to own the ring...He goes through quite extreme emotions during the course of the film. And that's what I was trying to get across, this kind of inner struggle."
