Character Bio:
| She is of the Elven race, grandmother to Arewn
Evenstar, queen of the kingdom of Lothlorien, wife to king Celeborn,
and a being of great power in her own right. Galadriel is like Frodo,
a ring bearer, she carries 'Nenya' the ring of adamant, and with Frodo's
'ring' in hand she has the potential to become more powerful than
even the Dark Lord Sauron. But Gladriel refuses Frod's ring even when
he offers it willingly, knowing that it is to dangerous and must be
destroyed. In turn, she showers the members of the 'Fellowship' with
many magical elven gifts. Such as Elven Cloaks which will make each
member of the Fellowship almost invisible to their enemies, elvish
waybread a bite of which can sustain a full grown man, and three Elven
boats which will be critical to their journey... |

from Australia's National Institute of Dramatic Art in 1992 and in
a little over a year had won both critical and popular acclaim. On
graduating from NIDA, she joined the Sydney Theater Company's production
of Caryl Churchill's Top Girls. then played Felice Bauer, the bride
in Timothy Daly' s Kafka Dances, winning the 1993 New Comer Award
from the Sydney Theatre Critics Circle for her performance. From there

Oleanna, also for the Sydney Theater Company, and won the Rosemont
Best Actress Award, her second award that year. She then co-starred
in the ABC Television's prime time drama "Heartland, " again
winning critical acclaim. More recently, in 1995, she was nominated
for Best Female Performance for her role as Ophelia in the Belvoir

Belvoir Street Theater Company. Cate is also known for her charitable
work on behalf of children's and women's causes. |
Actor Commentary:
| "I loved playing
Galadriel because she is so iconic. She is the one in The Fellowship
of The Ring who truly tests Frodo. I also think she has a profound
message to give about taking responsibility for ourselves and our
actions. And, yes...I have to admit I have always wanted to have pointy
ears." |
